By The National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership

As part of our work as an HRSA-funded National Training and Technical Assistance Partner (NTTAP), the National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership published a toolkit that provides the health center community with information and resources on how to integrate patient-centered lawyers as part of the health care team. Learnings from the toolkit were unpacked in a 5-part webinar series. This first part focused on patients’ social determinants of health (SDOH) needs and legal staffing at health centers. Bethany Hamilton, co-Director at the NCMLP shared tips on identifying which social needs qualify as legal needs and how different team members can address these legal needs. Erin Loubier, Senior Director at Whitman-Walker Health shed light on how to determine how many lawyers and paralegals a health center needs in order to operate an MLP.
