Article: Legal services as a component of patient navigation

Low-income individuals with cancer diagnoses commonly experience psychosocial barriers to care. This article describes how legal solutions can help to minimize these obstacles, yet how patients rarely have access to legal services. The authors suggest that training patient navigators to appropriately screen for legal issues and collaborate with attorneys can help prevent, rather than just react to, legal issues by addressing them as a part of a treatment plan.
