This article examines medical-legal partnership (MLP) through the lens of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The author outlines the overlap in goals between the ACA and MLP, including a focus on keeping patients healthy rather than treating them when they are sick, re-organizing the delivery system to create a more “patient-centered” focus, and pushing for increased collaboration among providers. It goes on to discuss opportunities for medical-legal partnership in the new health care system.
