An Interactive MLP Learning Collaborative
All sessions take place on Wednesdays, April 2 – 23, 2025, at 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. PT / 2 – 3:30 p.m. ET
As medical-legal partnership (MLP) teams look to strengthen their programs’ long-term sustainability, it is important to be able to convey MLP work and outcomes to potential funders succinctly, compellingly, and in a way that marries MLP to funders’ mission and priorities. In this 4-part interactive learning collaborative – presented by the National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership – participants will strengthen their communications skills and develop a pitch deck unique to their organization and program that they can use with potential funders and other stakeholders.
- Session 1 (April 2): We’ll unpack relationship-building strategies and the elements of a fundraising pitch deck and explore how to translate the work you do to your audience’s priorities. Participants will learn how to leverage research and relationships in designing a pitch.
- Session 2 (April 9): Facilitators will share how to leverage data effectively in pitches and how to balance it with storytelling. We’ll also explore principles of visual design and how design can strengthen messaging.
- Session 3 (April 16): We’ll explore how to identify funder priorities and navigate the funding landscape. Participants will practice answering typical questions funders ask and how to respond to their feedback.
- Session 4 (April 23): Before session 4, participants will draft their own pitch decks using lessons learned in sessions 1, 2, & 3. In our final session, participants will present their draft decks, get peer feedback, and identify what they want to refine.
Who Should Apply?
This learning collaborative is designed for individuals:
- Working with an operational MLP or one that is in the planning stages.
- Open to FQHC-based or FQHC-affiliated MLP teams and a very limited number of participants from Hospital-based MLP teams.
