Akin Gump law firm honoroed for building partnerships to meet communities’ health needs, legal needs

The law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP was honored with the 2014 Outstanding Pro Bono Advocacy in Medical-Legal Partnership Award. The award is given annually by the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service to recognize the significant role law firms and corporate legal departments play in promoting health through medical-legal partnerships across the country.

Akin Gump has collaborated with corporate legal departments on MLP projects across the United States. The firm’s leadership has led to the establishment and successful implementation of MLPs in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and Arkansas.

Their commitment to innovation and improving pro bono capacity is inspiring.”

The award was presented on April 11, 2014 as part of the Medical-Legal Partnership Summit in Seattle, Washington.
