Front-line healthcare staff often wonder what happens after they refer a patient to the medical-legal partnership legal team. What are the steps the legal team takes when working with a patient? What types of legal interventions exist? How long can it take to resolve an issue?

Legal teams can use this training—which takes approximately 30 minutes to deliver—to walk their healthcare partners through the answers to these questions and a patient’s MLP legal journey. Legal teams should review the content and make any edits necessary to ensure the PowerPoint slide deck reflects their local processes. There is also a job aid containing the same information as the training that can be given to healthcare providers as a reference sheet.

These resources were created as part of Kaiser Permanente’s Health, Housing, and Justice: Medical-Legal Partnership Initiative in partnership with the National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership and HealthBegins.
