The 2019 Impact Award from the National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership recognizes and honors a team that initiated a change* to positively impact the health and well-being of current and future patients and community members. The award is given so that others may learn from these innovative projects, recreate them, and be inspired to push the boundaries of team care from patients to communities.
Up to two awards will be given to teams that worked collaboratively across a variety of backgrounds and/or professions. The award will be presented at the National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership’s Whole Person. Whole Team. Whole Communities. Summit on Friday, September 20, 2019, in National Harbor, Maryland.
*Note: A wide range of projects will be considered. For example, recognizing that asthma can be exacerbated by illegal housing conditions, lawyers, parent advocates, physicians, and social workers may have successfully advocated for the inclusion of funding for legal services in a local health grant. Alternatively, a similar team could have petitioned the city council to sponsor a monthly farmer’s market with healthy food and food-assistance navigators onsite. These examples are meant to suggest project scope, not to limit the type or topic of potential projects that are nominated.
Nomination Guidelines: Nominations are due by Monday, June 3, 2019 at 8 p.m. Eastern / 5 p.m. Pacific. Questions about the nomination process should be directed to Joanna Theiss at firstname.lastname@example.org. Self-nominations are welcomed. Click here to submit a nomination.
