Doctors and lawyers collaborating to HeLP children – Outcomes from a successful partnership between professions

This article discusses the steps required to implement a medical-legal partnership in an academic pediatric primary care setting and the key outcomes from the first three years of the program. Children referred to the MLP were most likely to be African American, publicly insured and have asthma or developmental delay. Eighty-nine percent legal outcomes from referrals were positive and the MLP to addressed socioeconomic and environmental determinants of health.
